It's been said that from a very young age, Maddy always knew who she was. She's always been a spitfire with a fiery, yearning heart that has aspirations as any young child... She's always been assured that her beauty will cascade and transcend, and she always enjoyed being the center of attention -- especially when it came with a trophy.By age 11, however, her mother was burdened by the news that some of the coaches and judges behind the pageants Maddy had performed within were nothing but sick individuals with illegal, evil and disturbing fetishes. It'd come to the point where there was violence involved, plates thrown, horrible words spewed at one another and a trembling Maddy sobbing in her room, until she was sent to thankfully stay with Cassie and bond over their broken homes, and broken hearts.

Inherently, Madeleine is not ( nor ever was ) a bad person. She merely lacked the proper parenting -- absentee parents, an alcoholic father who could care less, and a mother that even though she sometimes provided her best effort, also tended to merely allow Maddy her space -- aka every tantrum was met with giving in, there was hardly any discipline -- but above all, hardly any love.Maddy became infatuated with makeup from an extremely young age, not only due to her pageant days, but the rise of inspiration on the internet. Her eyeliner has always been as sharp as her personality. Tough as a steel blade. She's always utilized it in the form of a creative mask. She could always accentuate her beauty and disguise blemishes, manipulate the masses with her striking gaze and pouty lips. Liquid eyeliner became her finest tool of the trade.Incidentally, ( due to the lack of supervision or care ) at the age of 14 Madeleine was seduced and more or less abused by a 40 year old man, someone she'd met while vacationing in Panama City. -- aka she lost her virginity. Truthfully, even though some form of consent had been given on Maddy's part, there's a responsibility for a grown ass man to recognize that what he's partaking in is wrong. Maddy felt bold and proud that she was attractive enough to be considered for such an act, still too young to comprehend the consequences and the hormones that are released during the act of sex. -- This was her introduction into a culture she found somehow acceptable, to use her body for the purpose of pain or pleasure... ( She deserves so much more, but capitalized on the notion that she can use her figure to conquer, and control -- and take back what was taken from her -- her power. )

Maddy met Nate Jacobs their Sophomore year of High School. They'd grown up within the same circuit of friendships and cliques -- she was the gorgeous cheerleader and he the gorgeous quarterback, it made sense and it fell into place rather easily. Upon their first night spent together, Maddy lied to Nate and answered that he was her "first and only" upon inquisition, and where it can be conjectured she did this to make him feel a certain way -- conquering the virgin, and what not -- It also comes from a place of insecurity. Where there are rumors and people are slightly aware of how she'd been taken advantage of at the age of 14 - it is not something she proudly flaunts, only amid the whispers of friendships she deems close.Of course in a small town such as East Highland, nothing stays behind locked doors for too long.Nate and Maddy shared in an on-again-off again affair for the better part of three years, filtered in toxic culture and manipulation that Madeleine herself was and was not aware of -- the thing about abusive relationships is that you can easily convince yourself that you deserve the behavior. In some twisted way this was how Maddy's brain decided to snap, it fooled her into believing she had control, when in fact - Nate called the shots - for no matter what he did, She persuaded herself, she would always love him.Upon the day of the yearly carnival in town, their Senior year, Nate had become angered by Maddy's bold behavior, and attempted to strangle her which left bruising on and around her neck and collarbones. -- this lead to her mother pressing charges, against Maddy's will, and an entire spiral of lies that put an innocent man behind bars. -- An indication of how used to his rage she'd become, Maddy hadn't even flinched when Nate lunged and gripped her neck so tightly that he could've killed her... Due to their 'romance' she refused to give his name up, she refused to place blame -- and yet again convinced herself they were in love and needed one another -- Bonnie & Clyde.Finally, when it all had become too much and Maddy felt she'd begun to lose herself and her true confidence, she broke things off with Nate at the Fall Homecoming formal. Maddy yearned to push herself to self discovery, to find what she honestly deserved -- though part of her was hoping Nate would fight for her, for them...she even began to hold out hope again, whilst Nate was fucking her best friend, Cassie, behind her back. --- Inevitably, Maddy found out, and inevitably all Hell broke loose.Now, with the future blaring in her face and graduation hurdling forward -- Maddy's been granted a brand new start to discover who she truly is, heart and soul - and gain back her motherfucking CONFIDENCE with a vengeance.
